Nez Perce VINELink Coverage
VINE is Idaho's free automated custody and status notification service, reached through VINELink and its app. The Idaho Department of Correction documents phone, text, and email updates for movements and status changes involving people under IDOC jurisdiction. IDOC Victim Services also distinguishes full-term release from release to parole. Those are not the same event: parole leaves a sentence active under community supervision, while full-term release marks completion of that custody term.
The local layer needs care. The Nez Perce County sheriff offers a VINE navigation route, and older Idaho material described broad county-jail coverage. That older source alone cannot establish the Adult Detention Center's current participation or update cadence. Confirm that the live Idaho interface lists the correct agency before promising an alert. If it does not, use detention at 208-799-3132 and the sheriff booking and release record.
VINE does not merge every jurisdiction. It is not the BOP locator, ICE locator, USMS prisoner system, tribal court, or tribal jail channel. A released label means the reporting agency says the person left that custody. It does not rule out transfer, another hold, parole, or custody under another sovereign.
Search Nez Perce VINELink Records
Start with enough detail to distinguish one person, but do not gather more personal information than the search requires. Agency and location are as important as the name because a person connected with Nez Perce County may be in county, state, tribal, or federal custody.
- Open VINELink and choose Idaho. Select the offered custody or offender search.
- Enter the exact last and first name, or the offered offender or booking ID. Try a known alias or spelling variant only when the first search fails.
- Refine by agency or location when that option appears. Look for Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center or the relevant IDOC source rather than assuming the first match is correct.
- Compare identifiers shown in the results. Do not select a record based on name alone when multiple people match.
- Open the record and read reporting agency, custody status, location, ID, and any date information together.
- Save the search time and source agency. Confirm a released or moved result with the agency that reported it.

Fields vary by reporting agency and by the person's case. Treat the matched record as a set, not as one isolated status word. The source agency tells which custody system the result can speak for.

A released result does not say why the person left, whether another warrant or detainer applied, or whether supervision continues. For an exact county release date and disposition, request the sheriff booking and release record. For a state case, IDOC may show In community, Released to Supervision, Sentence Satisfaction Date, or Discharged with a date.

The screen is the starting point only. A reliable Nez Perce result still requires the correct Idaho agency, a matched identity, and direct confirmation after any alert.
Register Nez Perce Release Alerts
Registration begins from the correctly matched record. Available channels and event types can change, so choose only options shown in the live interface. Keep the confirmation details where they can be found after an alert arrives.
- Select Register or Notifications from the matched person record.
- Choose an offered phone, text, or email channel and enter the destination carefully.
- Select the available custody events and delivery preferences. The record controls which changes can trigger notice.
- Create the requested four-digit PIN for voice calls. The PIN acknowledges the call and stops repeat voice notices.
- Complete any text or email confirmation step shown by VINELink.
- Save the registration confirmation and return to the matched record if contact details later change.
Do not share the voice PIN with people who should not manage the registration. An alert can arrive after the physical event because source data and delivery take time. When timing matters, confirm the notice directly with detention, IDOC, or the named reporting agency.
Confirm Nez Perce VINELink Alerts
VINE can lag or experience an outage. IDOC documented restoration after an outage in 2024, which is a concrete reason not to use a notification as the sole proof of release. For county custody, call Nez Perce detention at 208-799-3132. If the exact time, type, or destination matters, obtain the sheriff release record through Records at 208-799-3137.
For state custody, open IDOC Resident/Client Search and match the full identity. Read overall status with physical location. The research includes a Nez Perce example where an overall In community status coexists with a physical location at the county jail. In community alone is therefore not a safe yes-or-no answer. Released to Supervision is a historical placement date; Discharged with a date is stronger proof that the state sentence ended.
BOP's locator covers federal sentenced prisoners and may show Released or Not in BOP custody. ICE has its own detainee locator, while USMS has no comparable public nationwide search. None of those federal paths belongs in an ordinary county or IDOC case.
Nez Perce VINE Local Layer
The sheriff's VINE route and IDOC's documented feed intersect in one county, but they should not be treated as a single database. A county booking is controlled by the sheriff. A state prison or felony-supervision record is controlled by IDOC. The live VINELink agency name tells which source supplied the status and which office should confirm it.
Older statewide material described nearly all county jails and frequent collection. Because its age is uncertain, it supports checking the live service, not claiming a guaranteed Nez Perce jail cadence. Interface proof matters. If the agency is absent or the result cannot be matched, use the jail phone and records route rather than assuming the person was released.
Note: A county VINE route supports local use, but only the live agency list can show current participation.
Missing Nez Perce VINELink Results
No result has several possible causes. The person's name may differ, an alias may be in use, the source may not participate, the record may fall outside retention, an update may be pending, or another sovereign may control custody. Search one careful variation at a time and then change systems based on the last known custody.
- County jail booking
- Check the current PDF, then call detention and request the county release record.
- Idaho state case
- Search IDOC by name or IDOC number and inspect status plus physical location.
- Tribal case
- Use official Nez Perce Tribal Police or Tribal Court contacts. The tribal registry is not a custody list.
- Federal case
- Choose BOP, ICE, the known holding facility, federal docket, or USMS routing based on jurisdiction.
The Idaho and Nez Perce tribal registries are limited to people legally required to register. They do not show a general release date, disposition, or complete released-person population and should never substitute for VINELink or custody records.
When a county search remains blank, call the detention center before drawing a conclusion. Staff may be able to confirm current presence or departure, while Records can provide a durable response about a known booking episode. When an IDOC search remains blank, verify that the case is actually a state felony or supervision matter. A local misdemeanor, tribal case, or federal case may never belong in IDOC's system.
Alerts should also be read with dates. Save the time the notice arrived, the event time if displayed, and the reporting agency. A later sheriff record may show that physical processing happened at a different time from notification delivery. Keeping those facts separate prevents a delivery delay from becoming an incorrect claim about the release itself.
For help with registration, use the number displayed by the current service. IDOC publications have listed both a VINE service number and an IDOC Victim Services contact, while the national service publishes its own help route. The live interface is the safest choice because support details can change. Technical help can restore an alert, but support staff do not replace the sheriff, IDOC, court, or other custodian as the source of the underlying custody fact.
A court docket can add context after an alert. In a county case, iCourt may show a bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, warrant event, or other public action. That record explains legal authority but does not prove when jail staff completed the physical departure. Match the docket event with detention confirmation and the release record. In a state case, a Commission hearing grant or tentative parole date is also prospective. Confirm the later IDOC status and Released to Supervision field before calling it an actual prison release.
Keep notification and registration separate from identity proof. A confirmation message proves that an alert was registered, not that the selected person was the intended match. Review the name, ID, agency, and location before registration. If any field conflicts with known facts, stop and confirm through the agency instead of using the notice.
